Ghassoul (also known as rhassoul) is a clay found deep under the Atlas Mountains in Morocco. It is very precious as the depth of these clay deposits makes the clay very hard to obtain.
Ghassoul is known for its absorbing properties, making it ideal for all skin/hair types, but especially oily skin/hair. It is extremely rich in trace minerals (minerals that detoxify the skin by extracting a variety of skin pollutants)
Ghassoul clay can replace conventional soaps, make up removers, cleansers, face washes and hair conditioners. Not only does the clay absorb excess oil and nourish the skin but it removes dead skin and helps in the detoxifying process.
After using ghassoul clay on the face/body we recommend using a few drops of argan oil. The results of using both leave the skin clean, soft and youthful looking.
Usage:
Face & body
Using a non-metallic bowl and spoon, blend a teaspoon of clay with argan oil, rose water or water and mix well to create a paste. Apply to a wet face/body and leave for about ten minutes to dry. If your skin feels too tight the mask can be loosened by applying a little water with wet fingers. Rinse off with warm water. Also great as a foot treatment!
Hair
Mix as above to create a paste (you may wish to add slightly more liquid to the paste to make a slightly thinner consistency). Work the paste through your hair and massage well into the scalp. Leave on for approximately:
Dry hair: 5 - 10 minutes
Normal hair: 5 - 15 minutes
Oily hair: 10 - 20 minutes
Rinse thoroughly, towel dry and ideally let the hair dry naturally.
Ghassoul is suitable for all hair and scalp conditions. If hair is particularly dry 1-2 teaspoons of Argan oil can be added to the finished mask before application.
