Kinesiology tape is being worn by top athletes to decrease recovery times after an injury, reduce pain and get back into their game quicker.

The Kinesio® taping method and Kinesio® Tex tape was developed by Dr Kenzo Kase in Japan over 25 years ago and it has become known as the original Kinesiology tape. It is designed to mimic the elasticity of human skin, effectively lifting the skin away from the tissue beneath to improve blood flow and drainage. This reduces swelling, promotes healing and provides pain relief.

Depending on the method of application, the tape can also provide support to a joint, or correct misalignment which reduces the risk of injury and improves performance.

The tape will stay applied for a number of days in both wet and dry conditions, and so provides long term treatment of the area.
