Yellow single use tabards are for use by infection control practitioners and nursing staff in a range of situations:
to show they have been working in an infected area and therefore need to derobe and wash hands thoroughly;
to ensure infection control nurses do not move about general wards whilst wearing the tabard;
to ensure infection control nurses working in isolation wards are clearly identifiable;
to reduce the possibility of other patients approaching them when they have been
in contact infected patients.
Infection control tabards reduce the risk of cross contamination across wards and patients.
GV Health single use tabards have been developed in collaboration with a number of NHS Hospital Trusts. This input has directed the overall tabard design and construction as well as colour, wording and fit.
The single size tabard can be adjusted to fit all shapes and builds.
A recent study undertaken at a major UK general hospital found the cost of laundered tabards works out at between 41 to 43 pence per use. Single use disposable tabards cost 17.5 pence each - representing a saving of almost 60%. Disposable tabards also significantly
reduce the risk of cross infection and contamination.
