Isolated by the Swedish chemist Jöns Jacob Berzelius in 1823, silicon is a metalloid with atomic mass of 28. It occupies in the periodic table, said Mendeleïv table, column IV, the same as with the carbon which therefore has common features, including tetravalence ( i.d the capacity of forming four covalent bonds), but it behaves differently.
