Human Leukocyte Antigen (HLA)-typing is used to confirm or exclude the possibility of coeliac disease. Tests 6 DNA markers for HLA DQ2 and DQ8 genes.
Negative results for both HLA-DQ types make a coeliac disease diagnosis highly unlikely. The negative predictive value is greater than 99%.
DNA testing will work irrespective of your current diet. A gluten free diet is not required to take this test.
Testing performed by a CLIA and ISO accredited laboratory.
Needs only mouth swab samples, no blood required.
Results provided by email in 2-3 weeks.
NOTE: This is not a diagnostic test. Even if the test results confirm that you carry the genes known to increase the risk of coeliac disease it does not mean you suffer from it, or will ever develop it. If you do not carry the genes you will not develop coeliac disease.
The sample collection kit contains 4 x sterile mouth swabs, welcome letter, step-by-step sample collection instructions, client registration form, consent form and prepaid return envelope (UK only).
Instructions
Collect cheek cells by rolling the tip of the sample collection swab firmly on the inside of the right cheek and under the tongue for about 30 seconds. Be certain to move the swab over the entire inner cheek surface. This action should be firm but not aggressive and should not be uncomfortable. Light pressure is adequate. This procedure is totally painless. Repeat for all 4 swabs.
Place the swab envelope, plus the completed consent form, into the prepaid return envelope (UK only). Then simply return to us.
