Chlamydia is the most common sexually transmitted infection (STI) in the UK.1 in 10 young people who are sexually active have chlamydia - and they don't know it. Chlamydia is easy to transmit between sexual partners. Both males and females very often have no symptoms. However, if not treated, chlamydia can cause pelvic pain, infertility and blocked fallopian tubes in females; in males, testicular problems and reduced fertility can occur.

Chlamydia is easy to diagnose and even easier to treat. This test is only for chlamydia. If you want to be tested for other STIs, speak to your pharmacist on advice on where to go.

Remember - use condoms to reduce the chance of getting or passing on an STI.

This test kit is NOT suitable if you have any symptoms suggestive of any sexually transmitted infections (STIs). If you think you have any symptoms, speak to your pharmacist or GP.

This test kit can be used in pregnancy. However if you are pregnant and your result is positive, you will need to see your GP or visit a sexual health clinic for treatment.

You should use this test at least 2 weeks AFTER any unprotected sex and at least 6 weeks AFTER any chlamydia treatment you have received. This is to ensure that the test results are valid.
