This test is designed to help determine a presence of cancerous or precancerous growths in the bowel by detecting blood that is invisible to the naked eye. This test detects human haemoglobin in the stool and so other sources of blood in stool, such as from your diet will not cause a positive result. Bowel cancer is the most common cancer in men and women. As one in two cases of bowel cancer are fatal due to late diagnoses, it's important to highlight risks early. Our home faecal immunochemical test (FIT) can detect small amounts of blood in your stool sample, allowing your physician to treat the cancer, if detected early. If this test comes back as positive, it DOES NOT mean you have cancer, but we will refer you to a consultant Gastroenterologist or your GP for further examination.
