The Mistral is the third bike in the 2013 Viking road range and named after a strong, cold and usually dry regional wind in France, coming from the north or northwest, which accelerates when it passes through the valleys of the Rhone and the Durance Rivers to the coast of the Mediterranean (Thankyou Wikipedia). The Mistral constructed from lightweight aluminium tubing and has a relaxed road race geometry with sloping top tube. Shimano handlebar indexed shifters are fitted for effortless gear changing. Highlights include 32 hole Viking deep section alloy rims with quick release front hub and Shimano derailleurs. The larger 700C wheels with narrow 23C tyres and higher gearing make it easier to achieve and maintain higher speeds than a mountain bike or hybrid. The Mistral comes equipped with a 14 speed transmission using a 14-28 Shimano freewheel on the rear and a 42-52 double chainset. Powerful alloy calliper brakes are fitted to slow the bike in all conditions. An ideal entry level bike for mid-long distance training.
