Cholesterol home test kit for quick, simple and accurate testing
High cholesterol levels pose a high risk factor for the hardening of the arteries (arteriosclerosis), stroke and cardiac arrest. This home cholesterol test kit gives you a reliable estimate of whether your overall cholesterol level is within the normal limits.
Cholesterol is produced naturally in the body. While the majority is produced in the liver, a smaller proportion is absorbed from food. The body uses cholesterol primarily for forming cell membranes, producing bile and to protect the skin. The normal total level of cholesterol in the bloodstream is <200 mg/DL. An increased level of cholesterol (>200 mg/Dl) represents a risk factor for arteriosclerosis. This disease can develop unnoticed over the years while you are blissfully unaware. However, it can be detected and treated in time if diagnosed at an early check-up. How to use your cholesterol test kit and what will the result tell you?
Ideally your cholesterol level should be measured on an empty stomach. This means that you should not have had anything to eat or drink for a period of 12 hours before carrying out the test. The test results should also be interpreted in daylight or under a good light source in order to be able to better assess the colour variations. To perform the test from home you have everything you require in your box. You need to prick your finger with the micro-lancet to retrieve a drop of blood. Place the drop of blood on to the test strip and wait for three minutes. Match the colour on the test strip with the disc and read off your cholesterol level. The normal total level of cholesterol in the bloodstream is <200 mg/DL. An increased level of cholesterol (>200 mg/Dl). If you have an increased level you should contact your doctor as this may be a sign of an underlying problem.
