Mandibular Advancement is a technique which holds the lower jaw and tongue forward, making more space to breathe and prevent snoring. In case of mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnea, recent studies have shown the advantages of mandibular advancement devices over treatment by CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure), which remains the best option for severe obstructive sleep apnea. How does Snorflex® work? Snorflex® has been developed at the Sleep Center of Hôpital La Croix Rousse in Lyon - France by two sleep specialists and a dentist. Snorflex® is patented. During a clinical study (SLEEP, Vol. 23), Snorflex® has shown very positive results: AHI has decreased by more than 50% from the initial AHI for 95% of patients, the percentage of decrease of AHI was 72%) Snorflex® is a bibloc orthesis with two custom fit mouthpieces. One mouthpiece is specifically dedicated to the upper jaw, the other one to the lower jaw. Each mouthpiece has two cleats on each side (their position enables to differenciate the upper mouthpiece from the lower one) in which elastic(s) are placed creating the advancement or propulsion of the mandible. This position prevents the tongue from touching the soft tissue and keep the airway open in order to manage or treat snoring. Snorflex® is the only effective mandibular advancement device permitting movement of the mouth in all directions associated with the possibility of swallowing.
