Zinc Oxide is an astringent which helps to soothe and protect the area around the back passage from damage and also has mild antiseptic properties. Lidocaine is a local anaesthetic which helps to soothe swelling, pain and irritation and relieve itching. The Ointment base acts as a lubricant to help the passing of stools and reduce the straining which is bad for haemorrhoids (piles). What is Germoloids Ointment used for? Germoloids Ointment is used to relieve the symptoms of pain, swelling, irritation and itching associated with haemorrhoids (piles). Drug Interaction Precautions: Do not use Germoloids Ointment if: * You are allergic to the actives or any of the other ingredients listed * You continually suffer from haemorrhoids or have severe haemorrhoids. * You experience excessive bleeding. If you are Pregnant or Breastfeeding You may use Germoloids Ointment if you are pregnant or breast feeding as with all medicines at this time, you should discuss it with your doctor first. Warning: If you do not get better go and see your doctor. If some Germoloids Ointment is accidentally swallowed, tell your doctor at once.
