The DT competition spoke is made strong through a double butting process strengthening the spoke and making it perfect for many applications. The DT competition spoke is great for MTB and BMX wheels, road wheels or even on commuter wheels.The 14 / 15 gauge double butted spoke is 1.8 mm thick in the centre to save weight, but 2 mm thick at the end where strength is needed.The 15 / 16 gauge double butted spoke is 1.6 mm thick in the centre to save weight, but 1.8 mm thick at the end where strength is needed.Key Features: Made from X5 stainless steel, containing chrome for rust resistance and nickel for strength. Butting process adds strength through cold forging of the metal. Rolling of the nipple thread removes no metal from the spoke and preserves the grain of the material, maximising strength. Rounded spoke. Comes supplied with 12mm DT brass nipples. About 5.97 grams per spoke. Weight for 32 spokes, 191grams. Not suitable for ebike use. Double Butted:
Double butted spokes are thinner in the middle than at the ends. This is achieved through DT Swiss' unique cold forging technology, which reduces the diameter of the spoke for better strength to weight performance and improved elasticity.
