Alvita Electronic Cold Sore Machine works by using an invisible, infrared ray of light to enhance the local immune response to the cold sore virus. The light treatment reduces the duration of the attack and speed up the healing time.
ore than three quarters of patients who have used Alvita's cold sore machine reported a reduction in outbreaks afterwards, the company has said.
The machine, which uses light therapy to treat cold sores, can heal the area within five days compared to the standard healing time of nine days.
By "harnessing the power of natural light", the machine works to stimulate cells in the body's defence mechanism and helps to reduce the recurrence and severity of future attacks.
Cynthia Correa, senior product manager for Alvita, said the device was a "great alternative" to cold sore cream
