History
Although it is unclear when citronella was first used, it has many folk and traditional uses in the home, personal hygiene and medicine.
Source
Originally a native to Sri Lanka, the oil is a product of the grass, fresh or dried. However it is also cultivated in a number of other tropical areas worldwide, including Java, Vietnam and Central America. Many other species of this grass exist.
